Corkman Gerry Walsh is a senior trekking guide. Commonly known around Cork as 'Doctor Volvo', Jerry is a professional mechanic as well as an outdoor pursuits enthusiast. Jerry guides international treks to Africa, Russia and Nepal, as well as walking pursuits here at home.
In 1999, deeply affected by the atrocities being committed in Kosovo, Jerry enlisted with GOAL in an attempt to rebuild the country's shattered infrastructure. Since then he has worked tirelessly with GOAL, particularly in troubled regions of Africa, including Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Kenya, Sudan, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Angola and Ethiopia.
