Historic Whaling stations, Shackleton's grave, Elephant Island, Bernard O Higgins Base and a possible overnight on the Antarctic Peninsula itself. Teeming with wildlife, these waters are a haven for many types of Penguins, Whales, Seals, Albatross, Petrels, Terns, Skua, Sheatbills, Comorants, Shags and lots of icebergs.
Trans South Georgia
The team is picked, training in progress, the retracing of this historical traverse is now a reality pending weather conditions. The South Georgia traverse team will be dropped off at King Haakon Bay to begin this historic traverse.
A window of 3-5 days to cross the interior should be enough time to safely cross the Crean Glacier, Trident tower and Fortuna while the ship circles the north of the island as support. Finally the group will be picked up at Stromness and continue onward to Elephant Island and the Antarctic Peninsula to complete the Expedition.
